Omn1 (pronounced "omni") is pioneering experimental melodic crunch. Bright flowing melodies with heavy and sometimes ominous bass combine to create a sound unlike any other. After learning sound design in New York he applied his extensive knowledge of music theory to synthesize this brand new sound. Expect big things from this mad composer of musical bass flow!​

               Finding serenity in thick sound design and crunchy textures, Omn1 encourages us to focus on the here and now with the meditative Present EP. A four-track excursion of organic downtempo delicacies, Present is the second vibrational offering by Denver-based Omn1 to drop on Flywheel Music Group this year. Expanding upon his cosmic and bouncy Holographic EP, Omn1 goes deeper into the dub with a heightened focus on more introspective frequencies. The result is a rare mixture of Zen and Hype--whereby the underlying, chillaxed mood of Present serves as a foundation to support the soaring waves of energy that cascade from track to track. By dabbling in a multifarious blend of house, glitch hop, and experimental bass, Omn1 injects Present with a sense of meandering and variety that plays against the moments of intense mental concentration inspired by the EP's unifying, singular style. As your distractions fade, the lush reverberations rippling out from Present will distort time in an all-encompassing embrace. This psychological space (devoid of the normal flow of time) created by Omn1 serves its purpose of bridging mental and physical, intellectual and spiritual. Inviting you to find peace through movement, Present is a gift to all the chaotic, restless parts of your being.
               The voluptuous psydub anthem "Roboty" kicks things off with an infectious groove and chunky bassline. The song's low end timbres are particularly calming, as they bring to mind the dark green tranquility of a forest late at night via spacious, arboreal textures and slimy, frog-like synthwork. Next up, the menacing "Quality" oozes with hefty sounds overflowing from their original molds. Too immense to be contained, the individual layers of "Quality" leak into their surroundings, contributing to a universally gritty and monumental sonic palette.
               Striking at the heart of the EP, "Focus" drills right into the front-edge of experience with its ferocious and mesmerizing hook that will seize your complete, undivided attention. Featuring the boisterous, threatening bark of an approaching beast, "Focus" burrows into the present moment by crafting an artistic rendering of tunnel vision. This hypnotizing effect sucks you into what feels like a whirlpool, with a core of spiraling bass and a periphery of blurred shadow creatures. Finally, we arrive at "Present"—the triumphant conclusion of our inwards dive. Loaded to the brim with neuro-flavored growls of bass, "Present" is anchored by atmospheric chimes and a glitchy rhythm that seamlessly shifts to and fro, between steady and fluid. This cadenced back-and-forth is reminiscent of the actual lived experience of the present moment, wherein our time is split betwixt moments of conscious, patterned awareness and other, fleeting moments of unconscious, dynamic existence.
               ​Without uttering a single world, Present delivers a philosophical and reflective musical undertaking. Ripe with mellow tones and a wizardly articulation of abstract ponderings, this latest release by Omn1 is sure to quell your anxieties and simultaneously spur your sense of wonder—the perfect ingredients for a grounded session of meditation.
